Andrea Bolívar is in her second year as the choir director at Union Middle School. A first generation American, Ms. Bolívar was born and raised in South San Francisco. Her interest in singing and music began right around the same time she learned to talk, and her passion for music has followed her closely throughout the years. As a chorister, Ms. Bolívar has had the pleasure of singing in concert halls and cathedrals all across Europe, from Latvia all the way to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. In addition to conducting the choirs at UMS, Ms. Bolívar sings with the San Jose State Choraliers, with whom she toured to Carnegie hall in 2015, and the Baltic States in 2018. Ms. Bolívar also sings with the renowned community choir Resounding Achord, while maintaining a private piano and voice studio. When she isn’t embarking on a new musical adventure, she likes to paint, go hiking and backpacking, tend to her house plants, fiddle with her camera, and explore new recipes from around the globe.
