The UMS Choir Clubs bring students who share the love of music together! We have two choir clubs, Ensemble and Concert choirs. Ensemble Choir is open to everyone and is a great fit for singers of all levels with busy schedules. After participating in a year of Ensemble, singers are welcome to audition for Concert Choir for the following school year. Our groups meet weekly directly after school in the band room (26). Performances are held throughout the school year for families, students, staff, friends, and the greater community! Please read below for more specific information on our two Choir Clubs before registering.

GENERAL CHOIR CLUB INFORMATION
Our groups meet each week directly after school in the band room. All singers are required to bring their material (once provided) to every practice.
At the beginning of the year, students will be placed into their vocal part based on their ability and comfort with the different ranges.
Each week, different vocal parts take turns prepping our space for practice and clearing the space afterward.
Each practice will consist of warm ups, music theory, vocal development, and song rehearsal.
All students in both choir clubs will sing at Union’s three music department concerts usually held in December, March, and May. If students are ready, they will also sing at Union’s fall concert in October (if held). These concerts are mandatory performances for our singers.
Our goal is to continue expanding our performance opportunities for both choral groups to include;
Choir will have a strong presence of strictly choral pieces, and students can also expect to work on different genres of music to expand and grow their love of music and to learn how to use their vocal instrument in a variety of ways.
During practices, students are not permitted to use personal devices, including smart watches, except for at breaks, unless permission is granted for extenuating circumstances.
*Both Choir groups will not have practice during the two weeks of tech and performances for the UMS musical. Additionally, they will have makeup practices to make up for those missed weeks.
*If students miss multiple practices, they may not be permitted to sing at an event at the director’s discretion.
