Thanks to the great help from the UMS community, we delivered boxes of food to 220 families! Pics from Lunardi's over the weekend and the delivery to local elementary schools, to the YMCA battered women's shelter and to the farm workers in Watsonville. UMS volunteers helped all weekend which was so wonderful! And thank you to Claire Kalia for leading the charge on this! Vaccination volunteers neededUnion Middle School is hosting an event for USD students to get their Second Dose of the Covid-19 (Pfizer) shot on Monday, November 29th from 3:30 - 7:30 pm in the cafeteria. We are looking for 8 volunteers to cover each of the two shifts. Volunteers need to wear a mask while helping on campus. We are aiming to provide 170 boxes filled with Thanksgiving food items for needy local families, and this year we will also be donating additional food items to migrant farm families in the Watsonville area.
Here is how you can help: 1) Donate non-perishable food items Please sign up to deliver your donations to the porch of 267 Blossom Valley Drive (across from Alta Vista) from November 8-19. Sign up here 2) Sponsor a Family Our popular Sponsor a Family program is back this year, where for $40 you can provide enough funds for us to create, assemble and deliver a large box of turkey, all the fixings and lots of pantry staples that will feed a family of 4 for Thanksgiving dinner and to fill their pantry for the coming weeks.
